One of the most visible Quarterback battles has been resolved as Rex Ryan and the New York Jets have opted to go with Rookie Mark Sanchez as their starter for Week 1. After they traded up to get Mark Sanchez, and paid his hefty Rookie contract, this news should come as no surprise. Matt Ryan and Joe Flacco had very successful Rookie seasons last year, and everybody knows this is a copycat league.

I would expect his fantasy numbers to look more like Joe Flacco’s than Matt Ryan. Sanchez doesn’t quite have the weapons that Ryan had last year with Roddy White, Michael Jenkins, the power running of Michael Turner, and the speedy Jerious Norwood. Jerricho Cotchery is solid, but he’s no Roddy White. Chansi Stuckey and David Clowney have a chance to be decent, but they aren’t as far along as even Michael Jenkins was last year. He does have a couple nice safety valves in Dustin Keller and Leon Washington. The Jets, however, should have a much better Defense than Atlanta did. They will rely on that and the running game, something Rex Ryan witnessed working swimmingly firsthand with Baltimore last year.
