The Return of Michael Vick

All thing considered, Michael Vick played a pretty good game tonight. In typical Andy Reid fashion, Vick and the Eagles offense didn’t tip their hand too much. He played some Wildcat, but only ran the ball once, for a one yard game. He was four for four with 19 yards. Three of his passes were short connections (2 & 4 yard completions to LeSean McCoy & no gain completion to DeSean Jackson). He did show off his arm a little in a 13 yard completion to Hank Baskett.

There were some protests for Vick, which was to be expected. For the most part the fans welcomed him. The story may be different when he’s on the road, but I think most fans have heard enough about Vick’s past and just want to move forward.

Vick is a popular pick in the last round of fantasy drafts, but I would only suggest doing it as a gag. Even if his suspension is reduced, he just isn’t going to play a major role in this Offense. Even if McNabb goes down they would turn to Kevin Kolb and likely A.J. Feeley before trusting a Super Bowl caliber team with a QB who hasn’t played since 2006. Especially one that wasn’t particularly effective in his prime.
